Are you a therapist ready invest in your own therapy? Are you looking for a therapist that’s highly experienced in EMDR therapy and able to address issues of addiction, spirituality, and relationships? If so, I might be a good fit for you. Over the years I’ve had the privilege of working with hundreds of mental health professionals through my therapy, consultation, and supervision services. My specialties are EMDR therapy, Marriage and Family Therapy, and spirituality. As an EMDR therapist I’ve had the privilege of becoming a Certified Therapist, Approved Consultant, and Approved CE Provider through the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA). As an experienced Christian Counselor, I welcome the opportunity to include a faith-based perspective for those that desire it. And as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I work through a systemic and relational lens.

During seasons where I’ve needed to get my own therapy, I found that the options were surprisingly limited. I was looking for someone similar to me… an expert in EMDR who shared my worldview. Unfortunately, when you’re looking for an ultra-niche specialty, there aren’t as many options. The social circles become small pretty fast, and to find someone you don’t already know personally who is also taking new clients seems next to impossible. If you’re in the same boat, I’m hoping I can make that decision process easier for you.

After building a thriving group practice and maintaining a large caseload for many years, I finally experienced burnout. It was a perfect storm of compassion fatigue from maintaining a large caseload for many years, COVID, and my dad’s death. This led to a healing journey including counseling, spiritual direction, a therapy retreat, and a sabbatical from seeing my own clients. Looking back, I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to not only find healing and restoration during this time, but the opportunity to rebuild my life in a sustainable way.

Lion Counseling represents a sustainable model of therapy for me, where I’ve chosen to not accept insurance and work primarily with clients I’m most excited to work with! I enjoy working with therapists, business owners, entrepreneurs, athletes, and others ready to experience healing and breakthrough in their lives. As you weigh your decision to work with me, I understand that finances are a legitimate concern. I respect the need for you to weigh all your options. So to be completely transparent, my rates are high for three reasons:

  1. My experience and credentials are unique, and I’ve become a world-leader at the intersection of EMDR and Spirituality. I’m confident in what I do, and give my clients the attention and care I would expect for my own family and friends.
  2. My clients have been willing and able to make an investment in themselves, and as therapy progresses they see and feel the results they are hoping for.
  3. By charging higher rates, I have been able to be more selective in whom I work with, and am able to keep my caseload between 10-15 clients a week. This guards against future burnout, and keeps me fresh and alert for my clients and my family. They get the best of me. My clients are not just a number.

While I’m typically open to working with anyone that’s motivated to make a change, I most often work with men because I can identify with their life experience. I understand the pressures of running a business, managing people, and trying to balance work and home life. I know the confusing messages about what it means to be a man in today’s society, the pressures men face at work and at home, and the temptation to cope through workaholism, distraction, isolation, and unhealthy habits and behaviors.

I know I’m preaching to the choir with all this. At the end of the day I won’t try to sell you too hard on working with me. Deep down you probably already have a sense of what you need, whether you’re ready for a change, and whether or not I’m the person you want to work with. I encourage those that are on the fence to take some time to think about it, and let me know if you’d like to take the next step. And if it would help to have a brief phone call to make that personal connection first and test the waters, I’d be happy to do that. My hope and prayer for you is that whether it’s with me or someone else, you would be able to:

  • Increase your Calm

  • Improve Clarity and Perspective

  • Recalibrate your Priorities

  • Heal Issues at their Source

  • Find Freedom from Addictive Behaviors

  • Rekindle your Marriage

  • Reconnect with your Children

  • Renew your Motivation

  • Cultivate your Passions

  • Build and Leave a Legacy
