What Are EMDR Intensives

Experience 3 Months Worth of Therapy in 3 Days

EMDR Intensives are a structured form of trauma therapy where multiple EMDR sessions are completed over a short period of time, rather than spread out over weeks or months. Instead of meeting once per week, EMDR Intensives allow you to work through deeper issues across several extended sessions over the course of a few consecutive days.

This format is designed to reduce the stop-and-start nature of traditional therapy. With less time between sessions, you’re able to stay connected to the work and process experiences more effectively. This leads to faster progress and a greater sense of momentum.

How EMDR Intensive Therapy Works

Initial Consultation
Clarify your goals and confirm this approach is a good fit

Preparation
Build stability and prepare for deeper therapeutic work

Intensive Sessions
Extended EMDR sessions to maintain focus and momentum

Integration
Time to rest and process what comes up between sessions

Follow-Up Support
Ongoing guidance to help apply the work in daily life

EMDR Intensive therapy is delivered over a few consecutive days, with extended sessions that allow you to stay fully engaged in the process.

It begins with a consultation to clarify what you want to work on, followed by preparation to ensure you feel ready. From there, the intensive focuses on sustained EMDR sessions, giving you the time to work through issues without losing momentum between appointments.

After the EMDR Intensive, follow-up support helps you integrate what’s been processed and apply it in your day-to-day life.

EMDR Intensives vs Weekly Therapy

Both approaches can be effective, but EMDR Intensives are often better suited for those who want a more focused, time-efficient path forward, or need the flexibility to work with an experienced therapist for a select few days without committing to weekly sessions.

EMDR Intensives

– Multiple sessions completed over a few consecutive days

– Extended sessions (several hours at a time)

Maintains momentum with minimal gaps between sessions

– Allows for deeper focus and sustained processing

Designed for faster, more concentrated progress

Weekly EMDR Therapy

– One session per week

– Shorter sessions (50–60 minutes)

– Slower progress due to the time between sessions

Work is paused and resumed each week

– Designed for gradual, ongoing progress

– Requires ongoing local availability

Who Are EMDR Intensives For

EMDR Intensives are often a good fit for individuals who want a more focused and efficient approach to therapy.

This may include:

👉 High-performing professionals: Managing stress, pressure, or burnout behind the scenes

👉 Men feeling stuck in patterns: Repeating behaviours or reactions they can’t seem to change

👉 Those working through trauma: Past experiences still impacting daily life or relationships

👉 People with limited availability: Busy schedules that make weekly therapy difficult to maintain

👉 Clients outside the local area: Wanting to work with a specific therapist without ongoing travel

👉 Those seeking faster progress: Ready to address issues directly without long gaps between sessions
